"Adding a winger that currently plays with Montreal and playing him alongside Benson and then slotting both in beside McDavid when he returns could prove useful."

What player would we be targeting?

If Kovelchuck is the guy your thinking of, I'd be a little concerned. In his previous twelve seasons in the NHL, Kovalchuk tallied a whopping -111 in plus/minus. In fact, 10 of his 12 seasons he was a minus player on the ice. The Oilers already have a lot of issues defensively.

I think there are better options out there for us and less expensive. Maybe a guy like Ennis or Sheary.

Any smoke about Slepy coming back?

I liked him and felt he didn't get a fair shake. Probably wouldn't come back anyways but could be a potentially good add.

Meh, he is 12 points and +6 in 16 games, playing for Montreal. His contract is dirt cheap, and the cost to acquire him would be fairly small, probably the same as someone like Ennis. I definitely don't want a Sheary.

They've been saying Montreal is seeking a 2nd for Kovy. I think I'd pass on that. They probably could get Ennis for cheaper and his speed would work with McDavid.

Iggy can rim it and Jero can toss it.
